The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a central sector scheme implemented by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. It is designed to generate sustainable employment opportunities by encouraging new manufacturing and service enterprises in both rural and urban areas.

PMEGP supports entrepreneurs with substantial bank loans and subsidies, making it easier to set up new businesses. The scheme also ensures that enterprises generate employment, with at least one job created for every ₹3 lakhs of project cost. Beneficiaries also receive entrepreneurship training (after loan gets sanctioned) to strengthen their business management skills.

Eligibility
- Age: Minimum 18 years
- New entrepreneurs starting a manufacturing or service enterprise
- Must create at least one job for every ₹3 lakhs of project cost
- Must contribute a minimum of 5% of the project cost as own contribution
- Minimum 8th pass for Project Cost above 10 Lakhs for Manufacturing 5 Lakhs for Service
- Maximum project cost must be ₹50 lakhs for manufacturing, ₹20 lakhs for service enterprises

- Maximum project cost: ₹50 lakhs for manufacturing, ₹20 lakhs for service enterprises
- Maximum subsidy:
- Urban areas: 15% (General), 25% (Special category)
- Rural areas: 25% (General), 35% (Special category)
